Client Stories
Real experiences from pet owners who trust Dr. Hall with their pets' dental care.
Over 10 years of trusted care for our Pets.
I am not one to typically write reviews, but I do want to take the time to share my cat’s and my experience with the Animal Dental Clinic in Vienna, VA. From start to finish - arranging the appointment, coming in for a consult, major dental surgery (extraction of all teeth, which my referring veterinarian indicated would not be a surprise), the dental procedure itself, the follow-up, and the many communications and phone calls - Dr Hall and the staff have demonstrated both professionalism and expertise but have also been warm and compassionate, have invited and encouraged questions, have responded in a timely manner to my many phone calls, have extended walk-in hours for me to bring him in for extra follow-up visits … I could go on and on.
I will say that the days following the surgery were tough. Of course they were – can you imagine waking up with no teeth? It took a lot of coaxing and trying many different things (with the help and advice of Dr. Hall and staff) to get him interested in food … but now, just 2 weeks post-op, he’s healing well, eating, and back to his playful self. I know I’m anthropomorphizing, but I think he’ll soon forget he ever had teeth! And he’s no longer in pain with dental disease.
Thanks so much, Dr. Hall and staff, for the good work you do with our beloved furry companions.
Quick update, a few months post-op:
Simba has healed beautifully and in keeping with what we were told to expect - that it would take a number of weeks before the stitches dissolved. He’s doing incredibly well – a very happy kitty and more playful than ever, which makes me realize that he was in more pain than we knew.
Many thanks, again, for your exceptional care!
A decade later, the results still held strong.
Yesterday, my dog, Pip, a Toller, went in for dental surgery by Dr. Hall at Animal Dental Clinic in Vienna, VA. Dr. Hall also works for the National Zoo. About a decade ago, Dr. Hall was the dentist of my German Shepherd who had a root canal. My concern at that time was whether the crown would last. It did-- thru the lifetime of my dog thanks to a special customized composite for a crown.
This time, my one year old Toller had multiple damaged teeth (7) on the same side of his face. Whether he crashed into something or chewed rocks or a hard toy or bone, I will never know. The steps for Pip were clearly laid out by Dr. Hall and his staff, Allison and Crystal, who were thorough, patient, and pleasant in their responses to my numerous questions.
Yesterday morning, I brought my dog in. After Dr. Hall had reviewed the x-rays, Dr. Hall called me with his recommendation. Shortly afterwards, Pip was operated on. Later that day, I picked him up.
Using Dr. Hall, I am confidant that I have done my best for my dog. What family practitioner has such specialized experience? There are so few dog dentist specialists in the country. Would you let your internist extract your tooth? From now on, my dog will go once a year for a dental checkup.
For all the dental work, the cost of the procedures was surprisingly affordable.
Dr. Barron P. Hall, a veterinary dentist with whom I had the privilege of working with during my veterinary externship at In-Sync Exotics in Wylie, Texas. Throughout my time observing him, Dr. Hall consistently demonstrated the highest standards of professionalism, clinical skill, and dedication to both his patients and the field of veterinary dentistry.
Dr. Hall performed several dental procedures on large exotic felids during my externship—including tigers, lions, and a cougar—and I was consistently impressed by his precision, composure, and attention to detail. Despite the complexity and inherent risks of working with big cats, he conducted each procedure with calm confidence, efficiency, and a clear commitment to patient welfare.
What stood out to me most was his willingness to teach and engage with students. There were three veterinary students and multiple keeper interns present, and Dr. Hall took the time to explain each step of his procedures, answer questions thoughtfully, and create a collaborative environment in which learning was encouraged. As a third-year veterinary student eager to grow in knowledge and experience, I found his mentorship and the knowledge he shared invaluable.
Not only was Dr. Hall respectful, approachable, and composed, his overall demeanor reflected integrity and professionalism, and his interactions with the In-Sync keepers, interns, veterinary staff, and facility team were collegial and constructive.
In my view, Dr. Hall represents the very best of our profession. He is not only a highly skilled clinician, but also a teacher and role model who has positively impacted the lives of students and patients alike. I am confident in his character and his dedication to ethical and exemplary veterinary practice. Veterinary dentistry is a highly specialized and demanding field, and Dr. Hall embodies the qualities we expect of our specialists: skill, integrity, and sincere compassion for the animals he treats.
Sincerely,

I wish I could give ten stars.
I wish I could give ten stars! Dr. Barron Hall and Cristal, the office manager, are incredible. Besides both of them being overwhelmingly nice, it is clear their love of animals and their love of working with animals is partly why they are so happy and kind.
I took my girl Georgie there this morning. Georgie was diagnosed with a salivary gland disorder. My vet said she would need surgery. I did some research and found a top vet, Dr. Hall. By chance, I called shortly after closing and Dr. Hall answered the phone. So personable and knowledgeable. I made a consultation appointment and went in days later. Cristal was so kind getting the paperwork together and photographing Georgie. Georgie is a great judge of character. Usually timid, she immediately loved Cristal. When Dr. Hall came in, Georgie immediately liked him, too. Like aI said, great judge of character.
With Dr. Hall you will find an expert who loves his job. You will also find a super kind and honest man. His is principled. He won’t perform a surgery just to make a buck. He wants what is right for the animal. If an animal (in this case my dog Georgie) has a situation that has a chance of remedying itself and is not in imminent danger, he offers sound advice. It may be that it comes to surgery one day, maybe not. Why take the risk and pay the price? Most vets would push the surgery. They are business people. Dr. Hall is rare. What a great person. I can see why he is so popular and why his reviews so great! Look no further. If your dog/animals is in need of expert dental advice and beyond, you will feel confident that your animal is in the best possible hands. Oh, and I believe I read he has worked at animals at the National Zoo!
So like I said, I wish I could double his excellence with stars , but I will just have to give him the most stars allowed. Thank you Dr. Hall, Cristal and the entire Animal Dental Clinic practice!
And followed up personally the next day.
I had an excellent experience with Dr. Hall at Animal Dental Clinic when my cat, Lester, urgently needed dental work. After calling around with no response, Crystal at the clinic was incredibly helpful and got us in on the same day. Dr. Hall was quick to diagnose the problem, and I appreciated his professionalism and transparency throughout the process. He was thorough in explaining everything and made sure I understood what was going on. The entire office staff was friendly and caring, which put me at ease during a stressful time. The following day, Dr. Hall even called to check on Lester’s condition, which shows just how much he truly cares for his patients. I’m grateful for his expertise and compassion and would highly recommend him to anyone in need of veterinary dental care.

REVIEWS & TESTIMONIALS
We have been taking our greyhounds to Dr. Hall for dental care for a few years now and I highly recommend this office. We found him when we thought our dog was having a dental emergency and I’m so glad we did because I now trust no one else with our dogs’ dental care. Dr. Hall is an expert in his field and has incredible staff that take great care of our dogs. Dr. Hall also alerted us that one of our dogs has an autoimmune condition that impacts her teeth and counseled us on how to take better care of her teeth in between cleanings, which I am eternally grateful for. Many thanks to Dr. Hall, Cristal, and the staff here for taking great care of us.

Our elderly dog had developed chronic sinus problems and was rapidly deteriorating. Another veterinarian highly recommended Dr. Hall to get thorough diagnostics, and we are so grateful we were able to have our senior dog seen by him. While the results of the testing were heartbreaking — abnormal bone growth was blocking his nasal passages — it was incredibly important information for us to have in making the right decision.

Dr. and Staff are MAGIC! we have a 8 year old service dog who is our daughter's epilepsy alert savior--Dr. Hall got down on the floor with Rio to look at her teeth after our regular vet suggested she had some problems to address. Rio had a more than a few issues--aging and crooked teeth and overcrowding and pain--but she is in GREAT shape now--it's like she is a new pup all over again. The staff there was EXTRAORDINARY in their caring and kindness to our family and our Rio.

I’m a fellow veterinarian and I have known Dr. Hall for many years. My dog went through an accident and had a lot of tooth and jaw damage. Dr. Hall had him out of anesthesia in just 45 minutes did multiple root canals fixed a fracture extracted two teeth and sutured his damaged gums. It was a very tricky procedure and he had him home and happy in less time than any other doctor could have. He recovered great and we had him for another eight years! He’s an excellent dentist and a very good oral surgeon.

We had an incredible experience with Dr. Hall. We had a senior pug with oral melanoma and Dr. Hall was able to extract the growth with great margins, retained as much of his jaw/teeth as possible, and our dog healed perfectly. The staff is extremely kind and friendly, and Dr. Hall is very knowledgeable and realistic with expectations. We felt like all of our questions were answered and felt safe going through with the procedure.
